LENTEN SCHEDULE 2024

LENTEN WEEKDAY MASS TIMES
Monday-Friday: 8am. & 12 noon.
Saturday: 8am

The Way of the Cross will follow the noon Mass during the week and also every Friday evening at 7:00 p.m.
All Fridays of Lent are days of abstinence, no meat


LENTEN RULES
Abstinence: Catholics 14 years of age and older are to refrain from eating meat on all Fridays during Lent.

Fasting: Only one full meal is permitted on Good Friday for Catholics between 18 and 59.
Two smaller meals are permitted, but together they should not equal a second full meal.

Time: 5:00pm until the last plate is served

Presenter: Rev. Erik Lenhart OFM Cap.

Fr. Erik is a Capuchin Franciscan friar of the Province of St. Mary
currently ministering at Capuchin Family Ministries in Garrison, NY,
and serves as the vocation director for the Province.
In addition to leading many retreats and missions,
Fr. Erik directs an Arts Camp for young people each summer during which they perform one of his original musicals.
We will also bless throats at all Masses that weekend February 3-4.

WORKSHOPS FOR NEW
EXTRAORDINARY MINISTERS OF HOLY COMMUNION

Basic workshops for new Extraordinary Ministers of Holy
Communion will be presented this Fall by the Office of Worship.

Attendance at this workshop is required before a person can be
delegated by the Archbishop to serve in this ministry.
Participants are to be pre-registered by the parish,
and pre-approved by the pastor before attending.

PART-TIME RELIGIOUS EDUCATION (CCD)
COORDINATOR WANTED

St. Agnes is looking for a par-time Religious Education (CCD) Coordinator of both elementary and high school. Primary responsibilities are for coordination and oversight of the parish religious education program at the elementary and high school level and preparation for First Reconciliation, First Eucharist and Confirmation.

ST. AGNES MEN’S CLUB

The St. Agnes Men’s Club members include grandfathers, fathers, uncles, brothers, sons and friends of St. Agnes parish! They have a long tradition of service to the St. Agnes community and play a vital role to serve and support the activities of the Parish including the parish donut breakfasts, Lenten Seafood Dinners to the public, Brunch, Christmas Party, etc. They will start meeting again in August on the Third Thursday of the month.

USHER SOCIETY NEEDS YOU

St. Agnes Usher Society is in need of some new members to help with this special ministry. Ushers extend a warm welcome to people as they arrive at church, assist with seating, collect the offerings from the assembly, direct the Presentation of Gifts Procession, and distribute the weekly parish bulletin and Clarion Herald after Mass. Men, women and mature youth of the Parish are eligible to serve as ushers. Call the rectory office at 504-833-3366 if you would like to join this very special ministry. We would love for you to get involved!

ALTAR SERVERS

St. Agnes is recruiting Altar Servers. If your sons, daughters, grandsons and granddaughters are in Grades 3 through High School and are interested in becoming an Altar Server, please encourage them to get involved in this wonderful ministry. It is a good ministry to help them gain their self-confidence to appear in public. Applications can be picked up on the tables at all of the Church exits, or call the rectory office.

Now, they need look no further than a few swipes with the Archdiocese of New Orleans "Where Y'at?"
